Conceived in 1994 by Sobratema – Brazilian Association of Technology for Construction and Mining, M&T EXPO was called “ I Mostra de Manutenção, Equipamentos & Tecnologia Aplicada” (First Exhibition of Maintenance, Equipment & Applied Technology) and was held from September 16 to 20, 1995 at the Biennale Pavilion in Ibirapuera Park, in the city of São Paulo.
Throughout its successive editions, M&T EXPO continued on a path of growth and, with its eighth edition held in 2012, established record-setting numbers with 1042 brands and some 3500 units of equipment, presented by 494 national and international exhibitors, and a qualified visiting public of 54,597professionals from Brazil and abroad.
This expressive expansion over more than two decades denotes the consolidation of the trade show, which forged ahead through a variety of periods in the economy, as a thermometer for manufacturers, users and suppliers of equipment for construction and mining.
“M&T EXPO is the main showcase for new product introductions and technological innovations for construction and mining in Latin America and, in addition, has become a reference for the market. That’s why there is so much expectation among all those involved - exhibitors and visitors alike - to learn what the trade show will present and then define the course to chart for their businesses”, explains Afonso Mamede, president of Sobratema and one of the show’s creators.
According to Mamede, this outstanding characteristic of contributing to change the direction and the morale of the sector of equipment for construction and mining corroborates in establishing the role of M&T EXPO as a driver of technological and market development in this business segment. “This constitutes an important distinction and is an attribute that is exclusive to our trade show”, he underscores.
